Well, this is something! You write good, thoughtful articles but this could have come straight from a humanist who happens to admire the person who was Jesus. Too many 'Christians' today do not ever examine what Jesus actually said. Their eyes would be opened. But then, the all-powerful church of history (emphasis on power and of course, control) worked hard to keep their flocks ignorant so they could just tell them anything and they'd have to believe (and obey). Wait... that sounds more familiar and immediate than I expected. Will the Christian Nationalists soon declare the bible 'sacred' and only for the eyes of the specially educated and those initiated into the inner circle? Oh, but that's been done already, hasn't it? It's being done still. Cue those outraged against Critical Thinking and Critical Race Theory. Your prayer is the one I would echo. Save us all from holier than thou, righteous, true-believing Christian Nationalists. No one expected the Spanish Inquisition. We should learn from history, expect the American Inquisition and take steps.
