This is one of the best articles I have read about multiple microaggressions that black women suffer. I get it about the hair. Hair is who we are, our crowning glory as my grandmother used to put it. I love black women's hair, it's beautiful. I don't ask to touch (how gross), I don't dig into how its done or whether it is real (thoughtless at the the least, not my business and just invasive). I have said that I wished I could make my thin hair do some of the fascinating braid and bead styles I've seen but (sigh) that's not for me and I don't say that anymore. What I do say is 'I love your hair. You look beautiful' and I mean it.
