Thank you for this. I am, if I’m truthful, terrified. What people seem to forget is this is not a theocracy. We are not a Christian country. We are a secular country with secular laws and judiciary, with separation of church and state but when something like the Texas legislation is allowed to stand without challenge that separation is undermined to our diminishment. People like Joseph Steel (aptly named) want to see the freedoms eroded that impinge upon their limited idea of what is ‘right’. Sadly our SCOTUS did not call Texas on this draconian set of dictates, pitting neighbor against neighbor and allowing peeping Toms into private spaces and suing anyone who would help a woman. Gilead is around the corner and we thought it was all fiction.
