I'm sorry but I have to disagree with the premise that women are enemies of other women. I have honestly never (apart from two 7 year old bullies who fed each other's meanness) ever, ever experienced this kind of 'cutting down' or lack of support from the women in my life. Not even as a teenager. Instead, the women I've known, befriended or been befriended by have always been loyal, supportive, kind and trustworthy. I would trust my friends with my life. Not so, the men I've known. My women friends and I have disagreed, fallen out, come back together and forgiven each other, made our friendships stronger by working to understand each other and forgotten petty differences to surround each other with support in difficult circumstances. I've never experienced being torn down just to bolster another woman's ego. Maybe I automatically sift out such 'friends' but I'm not sure that is so. I think instead that it is a stereotype we must be cautious about embracing. I think there is some almost prurient interest in the possibility of 'girl fights'. I suggest we value each other and be a friend, with intention and love just like you did. But also that we stop embracing the idea that 'it's easy to get women to fight with each other' to provide entertainment for men.
