I thought this article was well written (unlike some of the responses, one of which I responded to). I too, would have hoped that learning could come out of this for the man who behaved so badly in his Christian, white, male privilege. But I fear that a severe penalty is the only thing that would shake him from his tightly held convictions. Having said that, I would just about bet that being fired entrenched him more deeply and, as is likely in these kinds of scenarios, he's blaming the girls for his actions and the consequences of those actions. We do not teach our boys well. We do not ensure that they know they are responsible for their actions. The reason for enshrouding women in burka is to keep them from inflaming men because it is believed that women are responsible for the actions of men. That's the Taliban - or wait, is it Christain indignation on a beach in Colorado?
