I think it says a lot (of good things) about you that you despise Hitler or rather the idea of him now that he is dead. I despise Putin. I despise Trump. I never said that it was not acceptable to despise someone you don't know, especially someone whose works speak so thoroughly badly about who they are. I did say that it says a lot about who you are when you say you despise someone you don't interact with on any level other than historically. I think that despising Queen Elizabeth II whether when she was alive or now that she is dead should be based on solid information about who she was. I question your understanding of who she was, what level of power she held and what she was actually able to do. The Royals are figure-heads. They are not political. They have no political power. They are not absolute rulers and they do not write or implement policy on any level. To despise what the British government does now and has done historically is one thing. To despise a person who is caught in a web of historical and tradition bound behaviour just seems short-sighted to me. Within her small area of influence she did good, a lot of good, especially in the commonwealth. BTW, the Duchess of Sussex has said repeatedly that she loved the Queen and felt welcomed by her. Secondly, the UN is a political organisation and all the members therein are politically appointed. The ambassadors change according to who is in power in their countries. Therefore, the Royals would never have a place in the UN even if they wanted one. It seems productive to judge them on what influence they can bring to bear to move government representatives, who still value them, to develop policy that falls in with their stated interests such as free trade, working together, peace instead of war, climate awareness and behaviour change to improve our world. But then, if it helps you to focus on a figure-head and say all the ills of the world lie there, well, I will say no more.
